Vangelis – 1492: Conquest of Paradise

The music from Ridley Scott's adventure film about Christopher Columbus (Gérard Depardieu) and the discovery of America was composed by the Greek synthesiser wizard Vangelis. The composer, born Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiou in Agria in Greece on 29 March 1943 is a celebrated instrumentalist and musical composer of Greek origin. He ranks amongst the pioneers of electronic pop, however his work covers a number of musical styles. He co-operated with Ridley Scott in 1982 when he composed the music for the famous sci-fi thriller Blade Runner. At Křižík's fountain we can again experience the discovery of America with his superb compositions from the album and film 1492: Conquest of Paradise. Every child knows this tale of the sailor from Genoa who sailed to find a new route to India and discovered the New World. An idyllic paradise on earth abundant with wealth….
